PERSONAL. Mr. W. S. Hall has joined the Kaikorai a» chief engineer after holiday leave. Messrs. K. J. McLeod and J. Chambers have rejoined the Manuka in their former capacities of second and fourth engineers. Mr. F. Mowatt, chief engineer of * the Otokia, has transferred to the Maori, relieving Mr. AY. N. Aimers for holidavs. Captain W. Gilling, of the Port Fremantle, who recently underwent an operation . a *- Hobart, has resumed command of his vessel. CARGO FROM MONTREAL.—The Canadian National Steamships liaye chartered the steamer Fredennick to load at Montreal and leave there on November 10 for Auckland and Welling'ton. SALTERSGATE TO DOCK.—The tramp steamer Sal ter sgate is to move from Kang s Wharf to the stream at 8 a.m. to-morrow. On Wednesday morning sjae is to dock to have her hull cleaned and painted. TOFUA DOCKS. —* The Union Company s Island passenger steamer Tofua docked this morning to complete her annual overhaul and survey. She clocks to-morrow and berths at King’s Wharf. On Saturday at 11 a.m. she is to bo dispatched for the Islands. NIAGARA CLEARED SUVA. The Royal Mail liner Niagara reached Suva from Auckland on Saturday,. and sailed in the evening in continuation of her voyage to Honolulu and Vancouver. She is due at Vancouver on November 9. and is to sail on her return voyage or November 14. * & ULIMAROA FROM SYDNEY.—Due at Auckland to-morrow morning from Svdney, the Huddart Parker’s intercolonial passenger steamer Ulimaroa later berths at the Queen’s Wharf to land her passengers, mails and cargo. She leaves here at 11 a.m. next Friday on her return trip to Sydney. _ BOSWORTH CLEARS PANAMA.— Messrs. Robert Millar and Co. have received information of the departure of the steamer Bosworth from Panama on October 21, en route from Texas, with a cargo of case oil for discharge at Auckland and Australian ports. She is expected to arrive here on November 18. RUAHINE LOADING.—Now loading at Auckland, the local office of the N Z Shipping Company advises that the liner Ruahme leaves here next Saturday for Wellington, thence Napier, to fill up She in cl ~ ai \? apier finally on November 10 for Southampton and London, via Panama. MATAROA REPORTS.—Wireless advice from the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Mataroa states she will reach Wellington from London and Southampton next Thursday morning. After landing passengers and mails at Wellington, the vessel will go to Port Chalmers, Lyttelton and Timaru to unload general ‘merchandise. —-

TURAKINA’S MOVEMENTS. The local office of the N.Z. Shipping Company advises that the steamer Turakina, now loading at Bluff, later fills up at New Plymouth, Wellington, Napier and Auckland. She is due here on November IS and is scheduled to sail finally from this port on November 22 for New York, Halifax, London, Avonn\outh, Glasgow and Liverpool, via Panama.

PAU A ARRIVES.—The Shell Company’s coastal motor-tanker Paua arrived from Napier yesterday morning. She is at Western Wharf. RONA WITH 0 SUGAR.—The Colonial Sugar Company's steamer Rona, Captain J. A. Wallis, arrived from Fiji on Saturday evening. She left Suva last Monday evening, and was delayed by strong southerly winds’ and rough head seas. Yesterday morning she berthed at Chelsea to unload her cargo of sugar.- After discharge the vessel will go to Sydney. CANADIAN CONQUEROR DELAYED. —Rain has delayed the Canadian Conqueror at Bluff, and she will not leave there until this evening for Wellington, where she is due on Wednesday afternoon to load for New York, Boston and Halifax. The vessel will leave Wellington next Saturday for Auckland, and is to sail from this port on November 6 for New York, Boston and Halifax. KING EDGAR DUE.—At 3 o’clock tomorrow morning the steamer King Edgar, according to a radio message received, is due at Auckland from Tampico, Mexico, and later berths at the Western Wharf to unload asphalt under the agency of the N.Z. Shipping Company. From here the vessel proceeds to Gisboime, Napier, Dunedin, Lyttelton, "Wellington. Wanganui and New Plymouth to complete. DEVON ARRIVES.—ShortIy after 2 o’clock on Saturday afternoon the Federal steamer Devon arrived at Auckland from Wellington and berthed at the Central Wharf to continue her loading under the auspices of the N.Z. Shipping Company. She leaves here on Wednesday for Napier, where she completes loading and finaUy departs at the end of this week for New York, Halifax, London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool, via Panama. * TRAWLER HUMPHREY. The Hull trawler Humphrey, which has been purchased by Sanford, Ltd., is reported to have left Falmouth for Auckland last Thursday. She is to replace the Thomas Bryan, which was wrecked near Cape Colville last June. The Humphrey is a steel vessel of 206 tons, and was built at Queensferry in 1918. She was formerly named Robert Farecloth. Since being sold to her present owners the vessel has been specially fitted for fishing in New Zealand waters. PASSENGERS FOR HOME.—The C. and D. Line motor-ship Port Fremantle, which is to leave Wellington this evening for London, via Panama, will take the following passengers:—From Auckland: Miss M. A. Johnston, Mrs. E. W. M. Richmond, Mr. F. W. Cave, Dr. R. E. Bevan-Brown. From Christchurch: Mr. W. Carrick-Wedderspoon. From Wellington: Mrs. A. E. T. Chaplin and daughter, the Rev. V. K. Jenkyn. Dr. Spencer (of Hamilton) wall accompany the vessel as ship’s surgeon. CANADIAN NATIONAL STEAMERS. —En route from Montreal to New Zealand, the Canadian Highlander is scheduled to reach Auckland on Novefhber 10 and the Canadian Traveller two days later. . The Canadian Highlander will also unload at welington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin. The chartered steamer Eastmoor left Montreal on October 16 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on November 27. The Canadian Britisher was to leave Montreal for New Zealand last Thursday, and will be followed by the Canadian Transporter from Montreal on November 21. Afterwards Canadian National steamers will be despatched from Halifax for New Zealand during the winter months, while the St. Lawrence is closed to navigation.
