ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
MORE FUNDS REQUIRED LAST YEAR’S GOOD WORK To carry on the work of the St. John Ambulance Association in Auckland for another year the sum of £1,600 is needed. An appeal for the money is now being: made. During the last year the association's nurses have made 7,161 visits to the sick in their homes and have helped 756 out-patients at the ambulance station. The ambulances have taken 1,243 patients to the hospital or to their homes and the distance covered by the four motor-ambulances has been 10,982 miles. All these services are given free to those who require them but have not the means to pay for them. In addition 8,982 people who have been hurt or who have fallen ill at sports meetings, at public meetings or in the streets have been helped by the association, and 1,165 persons have
been trained in first aid or in nursing. n °®e Except for th« district nurses the transport officers, no paid staff J employed and all other servicesV 3 given freely.
