Miss Molly Walker, of Wellington, is a visitor to Auckland. Staying at tlie Grand Hotel are Mrs. and Miss Griffiths, of Rotorua. Mr. and Mrs. D. Rees, of Christchurch, are visitors to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. A. Paynter, of New Plymouth, are staying at the Star Hotel. Mrs. R. Woodhouse, of Cotter Avenue, Remuera, is paying a visit to Christchurch. Mrs. P. Davies, of Dunedin, is in Auckland, and is the guest of Mrs. R. Warren, Epsom. At Cargen are Dr. and Mrs. Mark Brown, of Christchurch, and Miss Robinson, of Marton. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Handiside, of Masterton, who are visiting Auckland, are staying at the Hotel Stonehurst. Mrs. T. Bayldon, of Glen Afton, is visiting Auckland, and is staying with her siJLer, Mrs. J. C. Beale, at Stanley Bay. * * Mr. and Mrs. E. Duncan, of Wellington, are spending a holiday in Auckland, and are the guests of Mrs. P. Webster, Herne Bay. * * * Miss Mabel Baker is staying with her sister, Mrs. J. C. Beale, at Stanley Say. She will later visit another sister, Mrs. Bayldon, at Glen Afton, before leaving for Los Angeles. The annual ball In connection with the Te Awamutu Fire Brigade took place on Wednesday, and despite the fact that heavy rain fell during the evening, the hall was comfortably filled. Hildreth’s Orchestra supplied the music. The hall had been tastefully decorated, the brigade’s colours, black and red, being effectively used.

BIRTHDAY FAIR
BELMONT CELEBRATIONS The second birthday fair of the Br 1mont Presbyterian Church was held yesterday afternoon. Mr. J. w. Williamson, Mayor of Takapuna, opened the fair, and the birthday cake was cut by Mrs. Williamson, who was presented with a bouquet of roses by little Maureen New. The stalls were arrange round rV : ' side walls and were decorated in a colour scheme o£ mauve and pink. Many useful and attractive articles were displayed on them. The ladies in charge of the various stalls were as follow: —Sweets, Mrs. Cambridge and Mrs. Kaye: childrens fancy stall. Mrs. Cartel- and Mrs. Garroway: flowers, Mrs. Collett, Mrs. Young and Miss Collett; produce, Mrs. Wheatley, Mrs. Saxon and Mrs. Paul: cakes, Mrs. McEldowney: Mrs. Coates; plain sewing, Mrs. R. Kissell. and Mrs. Truverza; fancy sewing, Mrs. Roberts; refreshments. Mrs. Adkins, assisted by Miss J. Hill and the girls of the Efficiency Club: afternoon tea, Mrs. Ogilvie, Mrs. Diver, and Mrs. Bruce. The fair was continued during the evening and competitions were played.
BRIDGE PARTY
Mrs. Fred. W. Wilson, of Merivale Avenue. Epsom, entertained a number of her friends at a surprise bridge party last evening. Sirs. Wilson received her guests in a black lace evening frock, and a very enjoyable evening was spent. Among those present were:—Mr. and Mrs George Garlick, Mr. and Mrs. H. Gresham. Mr. and Mrs. Keary, Mr. and Mrs. J. Short, Mr. and Mrs. Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Webster, Mr. and Mrs. Goldfinch Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Gresham, Mrs. Gallagher, Mrs. S. Chatfleld, Mrs. Richards, Mrs. P. Flynn, Miss Miller, Mr. Jim Mason. Prizes were won by Mrs. Short, Mr. Evans, Mrs. W ilson and Miss Miller.
