BORROWING JUSTIFIED

CREDIT GOOD AT HOME REFORM IN WAIKATO (Special to THE SUN) KAWHIA, To-day. After an extensive tour of part of his electorate, Mr. J. C. Rolleston, Reform candidate for Waitomo, spoke at Oparau last evening, vigorously defending the Government and replying to criticism of opposition parties. Mr. Rolleston turned the financial proposals of Sir Joseph Ward against the United leader, and said Sir Joseph was so well satisfied with the state of the country under Reform that lie favoured raising £70,000,000 at a low rate of interest. This, indeed, was a tribute to the administration of the Government. It was true that the country’s credit at Home was high. The confidence of New Zealand was manifested by the extremely satisfactory loan , flotations on the London market during recent years. Mr. Rolleston claimed for the Reform Party material extension of the State Advances Department, and the establishment of the rural credits system, and later, the introduction of the intermediate rural credits system.
