MOUNT EDEN BATHS

LOAN TO BE RAISED The Mount Eden Borough Council at its meeting last evening decided to take the necessary steps to raise a loan of £3.500 to provide for the nitration. chlorination and heating of the Mount Eden Swimming Bath, and for the extension of roofing, the provision of further cubicles, and incidental workin moving the resolution, the Mayor, Mr. E. H. Fetter, said: “Out of 6,500 ratepayers there are only eight objections. These ratepayers have evidently overlooked the fact that this is to protect the health of the children." It cost £ 5 on each occasion that fresh water was put in the baths, and the proposal was a much cheaper proposition. The motion was carried without dissent. On the morion of Mr. G. L. Taylor, it was decided to circularise the ratepayers so that the reasons for the loan should b© quite clear. Mr. Taylor said that it was a case* of carry the loan or close the baths. It was decided to open the baths for ttie season on November 10.
