FIVE FRAUD CHARGES
CHRISTCHURCH MAN GIVEN A CHANCE Having pleaded guilty at the Police Court yesterday to five charges of obtaining money by valueless cheques, Leonard Montmorency Reynolds was this morning admitted to probation for 18 months. Chief-Detective Hammond said yesterday that Reynolds had cashed bogus cheques in Auckland and Helensville. Apart from the fact that he was out of work and came from Christchurch, nothing was known of him. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., remarked that it was as the result of a conversation with the Probation Officer that he had decided to give Reynolds a chance. “Another, slip like that and you will take it out,” he said in warning. Reynolds was ordered to make restitution of £l2 as the Probation Officer directed.
