WAIHI RIFLE SHOOTING
WAIHI, Tuesday. In spite of the heavy rain which fell on Monday morning, the Waihi Defence Rifle’ Club held a successful invitation shoot on the local range. In the morning the riflemen were drenched to the skin, but after the lunch interval the sun shone out brilliantly and the meeting was concluded under ideal conditions. The teams match was won by the Taufanga Club. The best individual score was registered by vice-president Littlejohn, of the Waihi Club. The matches were shot off at 300 and 500 yards, the following being the results: Teams Match. —Tauranga: Rifleman Floyd 85, Rifleman Johnstone 85, Major Mirrielees 82, Rifleman Oliver 81, Rifleman Porter 81; total 414. Paeroa: Captain fcSimmonds 90, Rifleman Hubbard 85, Rifleman Jenkinson 82, Rifleman Wells. 82, Rifleman Reid 69; total 408. Waihi: V. P. Littlejohn 90, President Cornes SS, Rifleman Feather SI, Rifleman Holdsworth 77, Rifleman Gordon 72; total 408.
