WANTED BY POLICE

AUCKLAND AGENT IN TROUBLE ARRESTED IN SYDNEY On Saturday a cable message was received from Australia stating that a detective had followed a woman in Sydney and eventually traced her husband, a man who j was wanted by the New Zealand police. The man is an Aucklander, Edward J. Samuel... He is expected to return from Sydney next Tuesday. i Samuel, who carried on the business ! of agent in Auckland, dealing: in tim- 1 ber, bricks and various other commodities, will be charged with obtaining credit by fraud from sawmillers, brick manufacturers and other people. It is thought that when he disappeared from Auckland he travelled to Australia via Wellington. The former message from Sydney read as follows: A city detective trailed a woman shopping in the city stores, hoping that her actions would disclose the whereabouts of a man who is wanted by the New Zealand police. The detective had little data to work upon, but lie was convinced that the woman was the wanted man’s wife. Her shopping excursion was extensive, but was not enlightening to the watcher who was beginning to fear that the trail was cold when he saw her enter a fish shop and purchase some cooked fish. With a more hopeful heart, he boarded the same tram, and then saw the woman enter a house. The husband was later arrested.
