PAINFULLY FLAT

Home-Coming of New Cruiser “AUSTRALIA” AT SYDNEY (United P.A. —By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z . Press Association) Reed. 12.5 p.m. SYDNEY, To-day. The new flagship of the Australian Navy, H.M.A.S. Australia, arrived and berthed at Circular Quay, Sydney, at 5.35 o’clock this morning. The sun was just rising. About 70 relatives and friends of the crew waved handkerchiefs, otherwise there was no demonstration. Even the passing ferry boats were silent. The Australia’s crew must have wondered whether they were in a foreign port, so painfully flat and unostentatious was their homecoming to the largest city of the Commonwealth. The public will be allowed to inspect the cruiser durirg the next few days.
