In the shops, for cash, sirloin fetches 10d a lb; prime ribs, 7d a lb; corned round, 8d a lb; beefsteak, 7d a lb; rump steak, 1s 2d a lb; gravy beef, 6d a lb. On the market benches beans are realising 8d to 2s 8d a lb; green peas, 3d to 7d a lb; cabbages, 1s 6d to 5s 6d a dozen; cauliflowers, 3s to 10s a dozen; radish, 1s to 1s 6d a dozen bundles; asparagus, 1s to 1s 6d a bundle; leeks, 3d to 8d a bundle; rhubarb, 2s 6d to 4s 6d a dozen bundles; celery, 6d to 1s 6d a bundle; lettuce, 1s to 4s a case; spring onions, 2d to 9d a bundle; beet, turnips, carrots and parsnips, 1s to 2s a dozen bundles.
