RIFLE SHOOTING
CITY AND SUBURBS CLUB The first shoot of the season of the City and Suburbs Club at 800 and DUO yards was fired last Saturday. Aided by splendid shooting conditions the marksmen made some fine scores, the most outstanding performance being that of H. J. Verrall, who dropped only four points in 20 shots. Other fine hits were made by A. J. Pieterson 03, H. \Y'. Cozens 92, and S. Griffiths 91. Pieterson and S. Elliott (Akarana) scored an aggregate of 187 in the pairs match for Major Cox’s trophies, and W. J. Verrall and S. Griffiths won a spoon each. .Detailed results are:— A Grade.—H. J. The first series of the service championship will be fired on Saturday with practice targets available at five and six hundred yards. AKARANA CLUB Members of the Akarana Rifle Club tired uieir second series on baturuay over ranges oi suuyus and 900yds, at Bemuse Rifle Range, ior trophies presented by Messrs. Coombes, Heston and Draffln. Conditions were ideal ior shooting and some good scores were registered. Tin* top three men in each section take 3,2 and 1 points respectively.
