GENERAL ELECTION FIGHT (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) NEW YORK, Saturday. A message from St. Johns, Newfoundland, says candidates from both the Government &nd the Opposition parties were nominated in all 40 ridings at the general election, which will be held on October 29. The United Newfoundland Government Party is headed by the Prime Minister, Mr. F. C. Allardyce, and the Opposition by Sir Richard Squires. The Newfoundland Ministry, with Mr. F. C. Allardyce as Prime Minister, took office on August 18. The former Prime Minister, Mr. Walter Monroe, and the members of his Cabinet resigned office. Mr. Monroe stated that he intended to retire from politics.
