Something of a sensation has been created in theatrical circles in New York by the disclosure that Madame Frances Alda, the famous New Zea-land-born operatic soprano, is seeking a. divorce from her husband, Giulio Gatti Casazza, the equally famous
! impresario and director of the Metronlitan Opera Company of New l^ork. Further surprise was caused when Madame Alda announced that she and her husband had been living apart for the past three years. The grounds of the application todivorce are stated to be incompatab ; ! : of temperament. The marriage tc place 18 years ago.
