REDUCTION WANTED CONFERENCE NEXT YEAR Press Association WELLINGTON. To-day. In reply to representations of the New Zealand Master Carriers’ Federation. asking for a reduction in the motor taxation on heavy vehicles in respect to which a petition was presented to Parliament and to the Industries and Commerce Committee, the federation has been advised by the Minister of Public Works that the Government has decided to call a joint conference early in the New Year. The conference will be representative of motor vehicle owners, county councils. municipalities, the Main Highways Board, the Public Works Department and possibly other interested parties for tho purpose of discussing the motor taxation in all its aspects, and the motor-lorry regulations, particularly with a view to assisting the Government to determine all issues in the dispute before the heavy traffic fees fall due next year.
