MAY BEATTY’S RETURN
ITAY BEATTY, pictured here, will play in “The Girl Friend’’ and “Hit the Deck/* when those
two popular musical comedies open in Auckland o n October 30. She was born in Christchurch, and for years was ! a prominent i figure on the | London stage. Miss Beatty was last in i-acw uaianu with the company which played “The O’Brien Girl” and “Tangerine.” In “Hit the Deck” Miss Beatty will play the part of Magnolia, a coloured mammy. One of her best numbers will be the “Hallelujah chorus.
Jan Caryll, a New Zealand dancer who has been meeting with great success in Europe recently, has accepted an engagement to produce a big spectacular revue, which will be staged in Munich, Bavaria, during the coming month.
