Guides Form Guard of Honour at Wedding of Popular Birkenhead Girl
Bridesmaids in Colourful Gowns
WALTON—HAYMAN Through a guard of honour formed by Girl Guides and Brownies an attractive bride went to the altar of All Saints’ Church at Birkenhead this week to be married to Robert, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. e. C. Walton, of Birkdale. The bride was Doris Mabel, the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Hayman, of Birkdale, and she was given away by her father. The Rev. H. H. Bedford conducted the marriage service and Messrs. Allan Brown and G. F. Walton attended the groom as best man and groomsman respectively. Mrs. Steelo played the wedding music in the church, which was beautifully decorated with lilies and delicate touches of greenery. The bridal frock was a charming thing of satin beaute and sheer ivory georgette, given added daintiness by inset panels of fine silk lace. A flowing veii of cobweb net was bordered with rich brussels lace and held in place with a chaplet of orange blossoms and the bride completed her ensemble with a beautiful bouquet of white flowers tied with streamers of tulle and ribbon. IN RAINBOW GOWNS Four maids followed the bride, two. of them her own sisters and two sisters e£ the bridegroom. They were frocked in exquisite pastel tinted gowns that blended into a delightfully colourful background against which the whiteclad bride was thrown into dainty relief. Miss Phyllis Hayman was chief maid, and her frock was of briar rose pink crepe de chine, worn with a head-dress of tulle and accented by a pink sweet pea bouquet.
Miss Sybil Walton wore a chartreuse green crepe de chine frock with a green tulle bandeau and a yellow bouquet gave contrast to her frock.
Miss Mabel Walton' was frocked in mauve of a piquant viola tint, and her accessories were in matching tones. Miss Mavis Hayman chose a flower tint of blue for her frock with headdress of blue tulle and a posy of pink sweet peas. After the wedding a reception was held at the Birkdale Hall, where the bride’s mother, wearing a frock of cornflower blue silk marocain with a blue hat and a rose-coloured bouquet welcomed a large number of guests. The bridegroom’s mother was wearing a crepe de chine frock of lotus rose shading, with a hat to tone and carrying a bouquet of pink sweet peas. When the bride and groom left later for a wedding tour the former wore a smart ensemble of mignon green repp with facings of beige crepe de chine and furs and hat to tone.
