“A RENO DIVORCE”
ULTRA-MODERN COMEDY-DRAMA
Acclaimed as the most vivid of ultra-modern comedy-dramas, “A Reno Divorce,” a Warner Bros.’ production starring May McAvoy, is shortly to be released throughout the Dominion. Miss McAvoy plays the part of Carla, a reckless society girl, who runs down a good-looking but seedily-clad pedestrian, picks him up, and nurses him well.
When both are acting to the satisfaction of Cupid, they are confronted by a newly-flivorced couple, who proceed to make things hum in a manner rather shocking even to the thrillloving Carla. Her new suitor tries to win her through appealing to her love for gaming, and “fixes” the roulette wheel in order to force her into paying up for her losses or marrying him. Other exciting and unexpected twirls of the' wheel of fate sweep the story to a dramatic climax.
In the cast are Ralph Graves, Hedda Hopper, Robert Ober, William Demarest, Anders Randolf, and Edwards Davis. Ralph Graves directed.
Jeanie Macpherson, who has written the scenarios for all of Cecil B. de Mille’s most outstanding successes, is now engaged on his first story for production under his affiliation with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The title of this production has not yet been announced,-,.? t is understood that it will have a modern theme, and will be produced on the same massive scale that distinguished “The Ten Commandments” and “The King of Kings.”
