ST. JAMES THEATRE

“WHIRLIGIGS” REVUE Roy Rene and Nat Phillips, otherwise Stiffy and Mo, are living up to their reputations as first-class revue comedians in this week’s presentation of “Trie Whirligigs,” at St. James Theatre. In a short musical comedy revuette, entitled “The Bell Boys,” Stiffy and Mo were seen at their best. Mo brought the house down last evening with the way in which he “put it over” the hotel guests, and Stiffy and his two imitators cause him much trouble in obtaining his beer. The Charlston Symphonie Six jazz band impresses favourably with its interpretations, and members of the band feature solo turns. All of the members are excellent musicians, and the band is one of the best seen in Auckland. In the encpres Mo appears as the drummer and scores a great hit, while Stiffy shows how an orchestra should be conducted. Amy= Gale and Sadie Gale sing enjoyable songs on a number of occasions. The Terry Sisters are seen in some fine dancing duos, and the Radio Six appear in sortae sparkling ballet numbers. A feature of the show is the frocking, tho principals and members of the ballet being seen in many attractive creations.
