PLAZA AND TIVOLI
“THREE RING MARRIAGE” Mary Astor and Lloyd Hughes, one of the most popular romantic combinations on the screen, appear as circus performers in First National’s “Three Ring Marriage,” now playing at the Plaza and Tivoli Theatres. “Three Ring Marriage” offers something distinctly new and modern in cii*9us plots and screen romances. The story deals with the frank pursuit of a cowboy hero by a cowboy heroine right up to the time she ropes and ties him with a wedding ring. She follows him from her .-anch to a circus and travels with the circus as a performer, in order to win him!
The screen story, however, begins with the circus and deals most exclusively with circus atmosphere throughout. The entire film troupe travelled with a big circus in order to take every phase of the colourful lifo they depict. Moreover, circus performers, sideshow -Teaks and other regular attaches of the show have important parts in the picture. “Three Ring Marriage” is a picture that provides ideal entertainment, and one which holds the interest from start to finish. It will be equally interesting to those who love the circus and to those who don’t.
The second picture on the programme at these theatres is “The Shield of Honour,” a story based on the inside workings of a big city station of the American police force. A thrilling climax with a spectacular airplane race and air fighting furnish this picture with some of the most melodramatic plots in the history of the aviation division of the police force. The cast embraces such well known players as Neil Hamilton Ralph Lewis, Dorothy Gulliver, Thelma Todd, Joo Girard and a host of others. An excellent supporting programme is also being shown.
