TWO FRENCH AVIATORS BARGAIN WITH CHIEF (Australian and. N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) PARIS, Thursday. The Governor-General of French West Africa, M. Carde, had an interview at Villa Cisneros, in the Spanish territory of Rio de Oro. with the Arab chief who holds as prisoners the French airmen, MM. Reiue and Serre. The chief, who was wearing the shoes and loggings of one of his "captives, demanded i,000,000 pesetas as ransom for each man, and camels and rilies, and also the release of all the Arab prisoners in the French protectorate of Mauritania, Senegal and French Guinea.

The Arab’s demands were whittled down and eventually a bargain was struck for the release of the airmen in exchange for nine Arab prisoners.
