SETTLED OUT OF COURT

SYDNEY LIBEL ACTION SYDNEY, Friday. A settlement out of court was reached to-day in the case in which Mr. Ezra Norton, chairman of the “Truth and Sportsman, Ltd.,” claimed £IO,OOO damages for alleged libel against Beckett’s Newspapers, Ltd. The alleged libel was contained in open letters published in February and March, which reflected on Mr. Norton’s character. The defendant company withdrew all the accusations, publicly apologised, and paid costs. The case was struck out.
