TE AWAMUTU CLUB (From Our Oxen Correspondent) TE AWAMUTU, Thursday. Fine weather was experienced on Wednesday afternoon for the opening of the Te Awamutu Bowling Club's season. The president, Mr. J. T. North, welcomed the visitors, and extended a welcome home to their fellowbowler, Mr. L. Ct. Armstrong, who had just returned from a world tour with the New Zealand party of bowlers. Mr. Armstrong, in acknowledging the welcome, announced his wish to present a silver cup for competition as a memento of his tour. GOOD LITTLE MEN Percy Wililams, world champion over 100 metres and 200 metres, must be built on the same lines as is C. J. Lane, the plucky little Victorian sprinter, who, weighing only 9st. 41b.. ran such a great race in a heavy wind to collect second place in the last Australasian 220yds championship. Here is the description of the Canadian sprinter that is given by a New Zealander who saw him in action at the Olympic Games: "Williams, who hails from Vancouver, is a small, pale fellow of 19. Though he weighs just over 9st, he has a steady, powerful stride and a terrific finish.”
