CONSTERNATION CAUSED URGENT ORDERS GIVEN Times Cable. Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Wednesday. The Riga correspondent of “The Times” says the acute food crisis Ts causing consternation and threatening the preparations to celebrate the eleventh anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution in November, in connection with which the Food Department is permitting the masses to purchase unrestricted quantities of bread. The trade unionist journal “Trud” states that the bread reserves are sufficient, but those of tea, rice and macaroni not so good. The Soviet has urgently ordered the food officials to work at fullest pressure on weekdays, Sundays, and holidays to maintain supplies for the industrial centres.
