CLERK TO BANK GOVERNOR
BENJAMIN STRONG DEAD (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. NEW YORK, Tuesday. Benjamin Strong, governor of the Federal Reserve Bank, New York, has died, following an operation, aged 56. Born at Fishkill-on-Hudson, New York, Benjamin Strong began the serious part of life as a clerk in Cuyler, Morgan and Co. Later, he was secretary of the Atlantic Trust Company and the Metropolitan Trust Company. He was made governor of the Federal Reserve Bank, Hew York, in 1914.
