NORTHCOTE BOROUGH COUNCIL

Prior to the commencement of the business of the Northcote Borough Council, the Mayor, Mr. A. E. Greenslade, referred to the loss of one of the borough’s most esteemed citizens, the late Mr. W. ERichardson, a former Mayor of the borough. He moved that this council place on record his services rendered to the borough as burgess, councillor and Mayor, and that the widow and family be informed of the resolution. The Mayor also moved that a letter of sympathy be forwarded to Cr. Ellis on the recent bereavement in his family, anc to the relatives of the late Mr. Mark Parrissh. The motions were carried in the usual manner. The medical officer of health forwarded a list of premises not yet connected with the drainage system, and also others m which septic tanks are still in existence, although it is possible to connect with the sewer, and suggested that the counc serve a final notice, and that the sept lC tanks be removed within 28 days. The council resolved that a copy of this communication be forwarded to those concerned. The Postmaster-General said in a letter that his department is unable y vary the requirements that a minimunumber of 200 subscribers must be offering at Northcote and Birkenhead before an automatic service can be given.
