DIOCESAN SYNOD
SESSION CONCLUDES SOCIAL WORKERS’ CONFERENCE After a sitting of four days, during which time two Bills were passed and 37 resolutions considered, the Anglican Diocesan Synod concluded last evening. Archbishop Averill presided. On the motion of the Rev. Jasper Calder, it was decided to recommend the holding of a Dominion Conference of social workers in Auckland after Easter. Anglican social workers in all dioceses will be invited to attend. A special committee was appointed to arrange details of the conference. A motion, moved by Canon H. K. Archdall, headmaster of King’s College, urging the need of providing a wider choice of authorised forms for occasional public prayer and worship, in addition to those in the Prayer Book, was carried. It was decided to refer the question to the Cathedral Chapter and Evangelistic Council for a report. The following Sunday School Board was elected for the ensuing year: Canon Young, the Revs. E. E. Bamford, E. Gordon Bell, W. E. Lush, R. J. Stanton, and P. de L. Willis, Sister Hannah and Miss McFarland. In declaring the Synod closed, Archbishop Averill referred to the happy feeling which had prevailed throughout, and had enabled useful work to be done. A resolution thanking the women of the city parishes for their hospitality during the session, was passed.
