RECALL FLAG

A T a meeting of the committee of the Auckland Racing Club yesterday, a recommendation was received from the stewards, and adopted, that at future meetings a special mounted official be employed with a flag, stationed some distance in front of the start, who on receiving a flag signal from the starter that a race has not been officially started, will be in a position to recall the field. It is to be hoped that other clubs will follow Auckland's lead, for it is a safeguard that should be made compulsory. Experience has already shown that it is an urgent necessity.
