WAIKATO RACES
FINE LIST OF ACCEPTORS The following are the acceptances for the opening day of the Waikato Racing Club spring meeting, to be held at Te Rapa next Saturday and Wednesda>.
Local Broadcasting A new system for broadcasting the races hds been installed at Flemington. It is known as the public address system, and consists of a series of loud speakers placed at various positions on the course to enable patrons of the grandstand and hill enclosures to hear the description of the race as it is broadcast. Two misrophones will be Used, one being connected with 3LO and the other with the public address system on the course. A test of the new system vas made at Flemington recently, and it proved very successful. Although the day was not suitable for broadcasting the loud speakers on the hill stand produced sufficient volume to enable people standing in the saddling enclosure in front of the members’ stand to hear what had been broadcast. It will be the first time that such a system has been used on any racecourse in Australia.
