Obituary
MR. G. G. EMPSON Mr. G. G. Empson, a. resident of Onehunga, who has died at the age of 38, was the younger son of Mr. G. A. Empson, of Te Awamutu, and was educated at St. John’s Collegiate School, where he was noted for his music, marksmanship and athletics. In 1905 and 1906, with a partner, Mr. Empson won the doubles in the secondary schools tennis championship and in 1907 won the singles championship. For some years Mr. Empson was on the staff of the Bank of Australasia, and at the time of his death was on the clerical staff of the Prisons Department. Mr. Empson is survived by his wife and young children. MR. B. E. TOZER The death occurred recently' of Mr. B. E. Tozer, of Mont Le Grand Road, Mount Eden, a member of tho firm of Tozer and Tozer, land agents. Dominion Road. Mr. Tozer was a son of Mr. F. Tozer, of King's Avenue. Mount Eden. He is survived by his wife and two young children. MRS. P. S. McNAMARA Mrs. McNamara, who died on Sunday at the age of 38, was the wife of Mr. P. S. McNamara, of Wahuroa. She was well known in Auckland musical circles and at one time was harpist in the Auckland Choral Society. She is survived by seven young children. MR. MICHAEL HODGINS One of the oldest residents of Palmerston North, Mr. Michael Hodgins, has died at the age of 78. His death occurred on the fiftieth anniversary of his marriage, and earlier in the day he had received messages and telegrams of congratulation. Coming to New Zealand from Ireland 56 years ago, Mr. Hodgins married soon after his arrival, and purchased a holding in the Petone district. Later he went to Palmerston North, and was licensee of the old Phoenix Hotel, retiring in 1904. He is survived by his wife, three sons, and five daughters.
