MOTORISTS MORE CAREFUL POLICE AND CITY CASES Judging by the list of cases heard at the Police and Magistrate’s Courts during the last few “traffic days,” Auckland motorists are becoming more cautious. This morning’s list was particularly light, though defended cases fully occupied the time of both Courts. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.. presided over the Police Court, and Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., was on the bench in the Magistrate’s Court. POLICE PROSECUTIONS A. W. Smalley, for driving lkt 36 miles an hour on Great South Road, was fined £3 and costs.- G. M. McFlinn drove a.t 32 miles an hour on his way to visit the hospital. He was fined 10s and costs. R. E. Trask was convicted and discharged. Breaches of parking regulations cost F. V. Lester £1 and costs, and N. Woolf 10s and costs. Inefficient lighting equipment resulted in finees of £1 and costs being imposed on D. Peter,W. Downing, J. A. Noonan, I. J. Turner and D. Felts; L. R. Drumm, A. R. Edwards, J. A. Edwards, J. Fletcher, R. Garrett, E. E. Gahagan, A. Hardley, A. E. Hill, N. M. Louisson, C. McPike, F. G. Jones, J. S. Palmer, W. J. Rushton and M. Sigley were fined 10s and costs; A. Waugh and D. Felts were ordered to pay costs. Failing to give way to vehicles approaching from the right cost G. McCulloch and S. E. Poole £1 and costs each. F. V. Lester, who had no rear num-ber-plate, was fined £1 and costs; W. J. Burnett was fined 10s and costs for failing to produce a driver’s licence; for affixing wrong number plates J. Urquhart was fined £1 and costs, and a further charge of permitting the use of an unlicensed car resulted in the imposition of costs only. Failing to give a signal was expensive for D. Peter at £2 and costs; C. E. G. Smith was fined £ 1 and costs for failing to notify a change of ownership, and a similar fine was imposed on F. G. Jones for having no endorsed certificate. CITY CASES Turning to the right cost R. Mattson £ 1 and costs and T. E. Hickson and F. Upton each 10s and costs. J. Mair and L. Harman were fined £ 1 10s and costs each for plying for hire with unlicensed vehicles. C. S. Renshaw, who drove along the Great South Road at 37£ miles an hour, was fined £ 3 and costs. Fines of 10s and costs were imposed on C. Kershaw and S. S. Rhodes, who had indistinguishable number-plates. Parking within 20 feet of the corner cost A. E. Ward© 10s and costs. For failing to keep buses safe, M. W Karews and M. McCarthy, who did not have their fire extinguishers in proper order, were fined £1 and costs. D. I. Weingott was fined £1 and costs for failing to round a traffic dome. Failing to signal his intention to stop cost K. Mackenzie 10s and costs.
