SMUGGLED DIAMONDS
LARGE QUANTITIES SEIZED (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) CAPETOWN, Monday. The Government has seized large quantities of diamonds smuggled from the Namaqualand State Diggings. Five persons have been arrested. It is reported that diamonds are obtainable from the natives of an estimated value of £70,000. Numbers of illicit stones have reached Europe. A crisis in the trade is feared. '
