DOWLING STEEPLECHASE MISHAPS ALL ACCIDENTAL (United P.A. — By Telegraph — Copyright) SYDNEY, Monday. The stewards ot the Australian Jockey Club to-day held an inquiry into the running of the Dowling Steeplechase at Randwick on October 6. which was the subject of adverse public comment. It has been described in the Press as a fiasco. The stewards examined trainers ana other interested parties. They came te the conclusion that the race was run on its merits, and that the mishaps in the course of the event were accidental. Consequently no action wafl taken. During the race referred to in the message Flipbern lost his rider early* Mendit hit a fence and had to b® pulled up, Chandonia lost his ria«r when he appeared to be winning flvv furlongs from home and at the next fence Nameerah toppled over when he had a lead of 15 lengths. This Grey Knight, who had been tn medium of sensational backing. 1 win easily. The stewards had previously announced their suspicion tn there was a jockeys* ring among cros country riders in Sydney.
