RUINED £lO SUIT

BUSHMAN’S PROTEST Resenting the fact that he had been put off the tram by a detective, John Charles Sharpe got a little of his own back yesterday and ruined the detective’s suit. Sharpe, an Irish bushman, aged 35, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in Richmond Road, and doing mischief by wilfully damaging a suit valued at Jp 10, the property of Orme Power. The facts, as outlined by ChiefDetective Hammond were that Sharpe had been ejected from a tram by Acting-Detective Power, whom he had got down on the road, ruining his new suit. “He has been here 37 times, and spends most of his time in gaol,” said Mr. Hammond. Sharpe was fined £1 on the first charge and ordered to make good the damage on the second.
