CRETONNE COATS
DAINTY DESIGNS FOR SUMMER WEAR Cretonne coats have come into favour again. Attracted by their suggestion of coolness and service, the smart woman is purchasing one or more to add to her wardrobe for summer wear. They are not the gaudy and somewhat bizarre patterns of a few seasons ago, but resemble rather the dainty chintz designs which our grandmothers hung for window curtains in the "spare” room. Many of them show white or cream grounds with sprigs or sprays of spring blooms. There is nothing at all Futuristic about them; on the contrary, they show a return to the simplicity of an earlier generation. One of the prettiest seen recently consisted of red flowers and green leaves upon a pale cream background. 1 Crossed bands and imitation pockets ! of red linen (the predominant colour in the design) made an effective finish. iWorn with a red hat the result was ! most pleasing and attractive. 1 \s cretonne launders so easily, the 1 coats can be worn for picnic, beach, holiday, or street wear, and make ideal coverings to slip over sleeveless ! frocks when evening breezes blow.
