SMITHFIELD PRICES The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received the following- cablegram from its London office, dated October 12, advising Smithfield delivered prices averaged for the week-end at that date as follow: New Zealand Wethers and Maidens.— Canterbury quality, selected brands, 561 b and under, 7id a lb; 571 b to 641 b, 7d; 651 b to 721 b, 6 7-Sd. Other brands: 561 b and under, 7d; 571 b to 611 b, 6 7-Sd; 651 b to 721 b, 6:?d. New Zealand Ewes.—64lb and under, sid^ New Zealand Lambs.—Canterbury quality, 361 b and under, lOJd; 371 bto 421 b, 104; 431 b to 501 b, 9jjfd; seconds, 9£d; selected brands, 361 b and under, 10 1-Sd; 371 bto 421 b, 10 l-Bd. Other brands, fii'st quality, 361 b and under, 93d; 371 b to 421 b, 9§d; second quality, 301 b to 321 b, average, 94d. Argentine Lambs. —First quality, 361 b and undei’. 94d. New Zealand Beef.—Ox, fores, 4d; hinds, 54d; cow fores, 3id; hinds, 42d. Argentine Chilled Beef.—Ox fores, 4 l-8d; hinds, 6 l-Bd. Frozen Pork.—Porkers, 6<Jlb to 801 b, 7£d; 811 b to 991 b, 7d; 1001 b to 1201 b, 71d • baconers, 1211 b to 1801 b, 7£d. Lamb.—The market is still depressed by heavy supplies of home-killed. Mutton.—The market continues weak for the same reason as lamb. Beef.—Heavy supplies of Argentine chilled beef are depressing the market. New Zealand Porker Pigs.—Warm weather and heavy supplies of homekilled are affecting the demand. New Zealand Baconer Pigs.—Nominal prices.
