King Given Great Gold Medal Commemorating Canada’s Day

Reed. 10.17 p.m. LONDON, Friday. Commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Candadian Confederation, the Prime Minister, Mr. W. L. Mackenzie, King, has presented his Majesty with a gold medal, three inches in diameter, which was struck in Ottawa. The Prince of Wales, Mr. Baldwin and Viscount Willingdun will be similarly honoured. Silver replicas will be given to Vis-
countess Willingdon, Canadian Privy Councillors, and bronze replicas to Canadian officials. All the metals were mined in Canada. The obverse bears, the King’s head, designed by Sir Bertram Mackennal. The reverse has a symbolical figure, designed by Mr. Jeffreys, of Toronto, typifying youth, energy and confidence, surrounded by heraldic devices with the names of explorers, including [ Captain Cook.
