FIRST DONATION FOR ANGLICAN CATHEDRAL
THE proposal to build a Church of England Cathedral in Parnell, which will be commenced as soon as finances permit, was further advanced yesterday when the first public donation was received. (Archbishop Averill informed the Synod last evening that he had been handed £25 by an anonymous donor. In a note to the Archbishop, the donor said he intended to give £IOO as a thanksoffering. Although he would never see the completed cathedral, he would like to think he had given a few bricks, and he hoped his action would emphasise | the worthy nature of the cause to other Aucklanders better able to give larger amounts.
