PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE
NORTHCOTE WOMEN Mrs. J. W. McLaughlin presided over a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Northcote Women’s Progressive League, held in the Parish Hall on Thursday afternoon. Feeling reference was made by the president to the death of Mr. W. E. Richardson, a highly esteemed resident and ex-Mayor. The secretary, Mrs. A. Taylor, was asked to convey the thanks of the league to the Prime Minister for the grant of £SOO by Parliament toward the initial costs toward the harbour bridge investigation, and also to Mr. A. Harris. M.P.. and the Bridge Association for their work. The league decided to ask the Borough Council to hold a combined service at the war memorial on Armistice afternoon. A vote of thanks was accorded the Borough Council on behalf of the Girl Guides, for the installation of a water tap and length of hose for cleaning the war memorial.
