NEW TIME

Clocks Will Advance Half-an-Hour To-night HOUSEHOLDERS’ REMINDER This evening every householder must make one addition to his usual locking-up tasks. Before “lights out,” he should advance every clock by half an hour. To-morrow morning New Zealanders will enjoy 30 minutes more daylight—the new Summer Time will be in force. Officially. New Zealand's timepiece* will be advanced at 2 a.m. to-morrow, but there will be no need to observe the exact letter of the Hw. The main thing will l»e to have the new time fixed before breakfast tomorrow, otherwise church services, trams, buses, boats, and appointments will be missed. Practically all public transport services will conform to the new time. The only exception in the railways is the train ordinarily leaving Maungaturoto for Auckland at 7.40 a.m., and arriving at 3.50 p.m. The times will be altered to 7.55 a.m. and 4.5 p.m. respectively. The altered time will affect the arrival of the express from Wellington to-morrow. By the new time it will pull in at 7.11 a.m. instead of 6.41 a.m. The new “half-measure” Summer Time will remain in force until March, 17, 1929. It is not expected that theatres will alter the time of their evening performances this season. The Auckland Education Board has not yet been approached by any of the schools with requests to observe standard time. Wireless enthusiasts should remember that from to-morrow New Zealand time will be two hours ahead of Australian time. Tide-tables, sun and moon calendar's should be altered to conform with Summer Time.
