53-MILE CYCLE RACE

EIGHTY-SIX STARTERS Press Association ASHBURTON, To-day. Eighty-six of 89 competitors started in a 53 miles amateur cycle race from Ashburton to Christchurch, which started at 12.40 in the rain with a strong south-west wind. The scratched men included F. J. Grose, scratch, and E. Hewson, eight minutes.
