CLAIM AGAINST COUNCIL

FAULTY DRAINAGE ALLEGED CASE FROM TAKAPUNA Hearing was continued at the Supreme. Court to-day in the case in which Edward McLeod and Curtis Robert Armiger, claimed compensation for depreciation to their properties said to have been caused by drainage work of the Takapuna Borough Council. Mr. McLeod's claim was for £3ll 10s, and Mr. Armiger’s for £SO. Mr. Justice Smith presided. and with him as assessors were Mr. A. Greville Walker, for the council, and Mr. T. F. Hanna for the claimants. Mr. J. B. Johnston was counsel for the claimants and Mr. Lowrie for the council. To-day was occupied in the hearing of evidence for the defence. Archibald Slinger, engineer for the Borough Council, said the new drain took no more water on to the claimant’s property than was there before it was constructed.
