SOUTH AFRICAN WALKERS (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 10 a.m. CAPETOWN, Thurs. Cooke and Mopson completed the first 1,000 miles of their walk from Capetown to Cairo to-day in 33 days, beating the record by five days. The country was sun-baked, and made walking hard. They had wonderful receptions along the route.
