TO AID WIVES
Wonderful Inventions Exhibited LONDON DISPLAY (Australian and J Y.Z. Press Association) Reed. 1 p.m. LONDON", Wednesday. A host of new devices at the annual inventions exhibition appears to be making the housewives’ lot much easier. Sir Herbert Morgan, at the opening, said he feared that womenkind would eventually lose their natural skill and become were automatons. The novelties include a wire attachment on a kettle-lid, which turns off the gas when the kettle boils; a device which seals a pie-crust, and prevents the juice from escaping; an ever-sharp bread knife which makes no crumbs; and a teapot on the thermos principle; a folding telescope umbrella, which is able to be accommodated in a woman’s handbag; a telephone attachment, which it is claimed, in the event of r. subscriber’s absence, records the calling number and records the message.
