In his final practice flight in the super-marine Napier Seaplane S 5, ill which he hopes to break the Italian, Major de Bemardi’s, flying speed record, Flight-Lieutenant D’Arcy Greig put up a speed estimated at more than 310 ipiles an hour at Calshot this afternoon. Major de Bernardi's record is 318 J miles an hour. The Cunard liner Aquitania was steaming up the Solent as Lieutenant Greig was about to start, and the Caishot air station sent a wireless m. s sage to the liner asking her to reduce speed. The captain at once ordered slow speed, and the Aquitania was practically hove to while Lieutenant Greig made the flight. After one more flight, if the weather conditions continue favourable. Lieutenant Greig will maek his official attempt on the record.
