“AUSTRALIA’S” VISIT

LUNCHEON AT WELLINGTON CHILDREN SEE CRUFSER Press Association WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A Government luncheon was given to-day to Rear-Admiral G. F. Hyde and officers of H.M.A.S. Australia, the new flagship of the Australian Navy. Ten members of Parliament were present. “We in New Zealand are inseparably wrapped up with the fortunes of Australians,” said Mr. Coates. We are trying to make exactly the same provision in principle for the efficient protection of our trade routes by joining with Australia (ind other parts of the Empire in methods that will effect that object. He congratulated the Prime Minister and people of Australia in taking .the course they had to ensure that their trade routes would be protected. Trade relations between New Zealand and Australia had always been pleasant, said the Prime Minister, and good feeling among the sister countries was growing mere and more along the lines of a general desire of most people in the Empire to get together to a greater extent than hitherto. He expressed the wish that the units of the New Zealand and Australian Navies might meet for the purpose of training and fraternising. The ship was open for public inspection to-day, and special arrangements were made for parties of school children, Boy Scouts and Girl Guides to visit the cruiser.
