(From Our Oxen Correspondent) Mrs. G. R- Weir is a Wellington visitor to Hamilton. Mrs. A. Gordon, of Hamilton, left by the Niagara on Monday for an extended holiday in Australia. • + « Mrs. R. Hill, of Te Kuiti, is the guest of Mrs. Haseler. Miss E. Scherer has returned from an interesting holiday with the Ski-ing Club at Tongariro National Park. Mrs. Clemow, of Cambridge, leaves on Friday for a holiday in Sydney. READING CIRCLE’S OPEN EVENING. On Tuesday the Reading Circle of the Lyceum Club held its open evening. A very interesting programme of music and the reading v,f three oneact plays had been arranged. All the parts were particularly well cast. The programme opened with A. A. Milne’s “The Camberley Triangle.” Camberley being rea<s by Mrs. T. Campbell. Cyril Norwood, her lover, by Miss Fran Jolly, Dennis Camberley by Mrs. Oswald Smith. A duet was given by Miss E. Rowie and Miss E. White. "Square Pegs.” by Clifford Bax, was next read. The Modern Girl Hilda was cleverly read by Miss Enid Bowie and Gioconda, the 16th century Venetian girl, by Miss Lorna Nicholls; Miss Maud Himmer then gave two songs. The programme concluded with Gertrude Jennings's amusing “Five Birds in a Cage,” Susan, Duchess of Wiltshire, being read by Mrs. F. Bullock, Leonard Lord Porch by Miss E. Madeley, Nelly, a milliner’s assistant. by Miss G. Eggleston, Bert, a workman, by Miss M. Hodgson, and Horace, the lift-man, by Mr. Staples. Those present included Mesdames Houlden, Seale, Brewer, J. Gilfillan. • • * GOLF PRIZE-GIVING The final of the South Auckland Ladies’ Golf Championships that was to have been played to-day had to be postponed owing to the weather, but the Hamilton committee decided to have the prize-giving to-day, as many of the players were going on to other tournaments. Accordingly early this afternoon Mrs. Melville Bell, president of the Hamilton Ladies’ Club, mad© the presentations. The prizewinners were: First day’s medal, senior. Miss J.
