Street Collections.—The multiplicity of street collections is having the effect of lowering the amounts contributed by the public. The last day’s collection at Devonport amounted to only £l2. At last evening’s meeting of the Devonport Borough Council, it was decided to fix a date for a conference of representatives from local bodies which have indicated willingness to limit the number of street collection. * year.
