MOKAUITI-ARIA ROAD

DECLARED A MAIN HIGHWAY Advice has been received by Mr. J. C. Rolleston, M.P. for Waitomo, that the road between Mokauiti and Aria has been declared a highway, and will be administered by the Main Highhways Board. Promises made by the Public Works Department will be honoured by the board. The offer of £9,600 (£1 10s for £1 and £4,000 free) made by the Minister of Public Works, still holds good. The board is prepared to expend the free money and review the question of an increase in subsidy at a future date. The declaration of this road as a highway is a cause for much satisfaction among the settlers of this part of the country.
