HIS RIDING INSTRUCTIONS

A USSIE'S running in the Shorts Handicap on Saturday was the subject of a prolonged inquiry by the A.R.C. stewards. This was adjourned on Saturday and was concluded yesterday afternoon. The outcome was that A. Tinker, the rider of Aussie, was instructed to in future ride his mount out when he had a chance of getting in the money. It will be remembered that Aussie was a warm favourite in Saturday's sprint. The horse got away well, but soon dropped back, apparently being subjected to some interference then, and again later on. At the home turn Aussie was not in the first ten, and he eventually had only one horse behind him passing the judge.
