KING AND THE POLICE
COMPETITION MEDAL GIVEN British Official "Wireless . RUGBY, Sunday. King George has honoured the policemen of the Empire with a new mark of his interest and appreciation of their services. It takes the form of a gold medal to be presented annually by his Majesty for competition among the men of all the regular police forces. The medal, and a substantial money prize, will be awarded for the best essay on a set subject connected with the duties of the police. The subject chosen for the first, year’s competition is: “Co-operation between the police and the public in the detection and the prosecution of crime.” The institution of this competition was announced in a recent metropolitan police order. It will be open to serving members of the regular police forces within the Empire or in the mandated territories.
